Directions to Base Camp from Darby, MT 

Take Hwy 93 South. (From Darby MT)


Turn Right onto West Fork Rd. (approximately 5 miles south of Darby)


Follow the West Fork Rd 14 miles to Rd. 468, ‘Nez Perce Rd’. Stay on the Nez Perce road. It will take you over Nez Perce Pass into Idaho.


Stay right, at the Selway River, which is down river, to Magruder Crossing. 


Turn left towards Elk City, cross over the bridge and continue up the mountain road to Kim Creek Saddle, camp is on the left.


This road is primitive and takes approximately 2.5 hours to travel from Darby Montana to Base Camp. Be sure to fill your gas tank before you leave Darby.

Please arrive close to the appointed time on your itinerary. We have other clients checking out and have a lot of preparations to do before you arrive.


Bear Hunters are usually asked to show up around noon.


Elk Hunters are usually asked to show up around 5 pm. 


We recommend you get a Bitterroot National Forest Map: south half.
